I am the granddaugher of Maria Valentini (Mary Valentine)who arrived at Ellis Island from Tuenno on October 20,1911. As a child, I lived on a farm in Wapwallopen, PA next to my grandmother's home. Mary Valentine Luigi died in 1962. She also had a brother who lived in PA, (Edvardo or Edward Valentine).  I have done research over the years, but this website with links to other sites and information has been the best. I hope someday to visit Tuenno, meet my relatives, see the beautiful country, and learn more about my Tyrolean heritage.

I am researching the Zoanetti and Artini families that left Zuclo for places in Australia, United States and Argentina. I have a reasonable amount of information and would like to find people who can add this information.

Just found your cool site while planning a trip to the Tyrol. Both my parents are Tyrolean, and born in Nuremberg, PA. The last names of some of my Tyrolean forbears include Yannes (spelled Ianes, I think in Tyrol), Nicolodi, Fedrigon, Marchetti, Genetti. I know the Yannes side came from Castelfondo the rest from the same area or close by. I have a really extensive Yannes geneaology chart and also some good info on my Marchetti and Nicolodi ancestors. Always happy to share with or hear from any far-flung family members.

My great grandmother told me that my great-great grendfather, Celeste Pintarelli was from Trentino. I am having trouble finding records on him. I have searched the Ellis Island records and around on this web-site. I just recently started to search for records though. If anyone has any suggestions please e-mail me as I am new at this and am willing to take any advice.

My father Samuel Michael Iob (3rd) resides in Arizona, but was born in Lousiana.  His father Samuel Michael Iob (2nd) resides in Arizona. And His father Samuel Michael Iob I know little about. We were always told we were of German decent, and Iob was a German name. So the search began and I found the Trentinoheritage web site, and was very surprised at what I found.  My great-great grandfather? by the name of Adam Phillip Iob may have come from Austia and fought in world war one.

I've just now started to do some research into my family tree. My father Erminio Franzoi is from Sporminore and my grandfather was Camillo Franzoi. So far I've learned that I am related to the following families: Stefani, Endrizzi, Iob. I know that I will find other relatives and I look forward to speaking to each one of you. If you are a Franzoi or any of the other mentioned family names, I'd love to hear from you.

I spent three weeks in Val di Non. I actually stayed with family in Romallo. My mother came to USA in 1964. She is of the Clauser-Paternoster family. If any of you haven't made it to Northern Italy, it is a lifetime must. Being hugged by the Dolomiti mountains is like no other feeling in the world.

Thanks to some hard work by Sofia Goff, Joan Barker and Dan Zadra, over 150 people came together in Seattle for good food and meeting others who had relatives who came from Revo. Sofia did a CD that had old pictures and our family trees. There were family trees from the Martini, Fellin, Flor, Albertini and Agosto families posted and we all found people to whom we were related. I finally traced my Martini branch back to the 1500's and now am earnestly working on the Rossi side. All I know is my grandmother Rossi was the daughter of Stefano Rossi and Maddelena Moscon. I know two Rossi brothers went to the Hazelton area and stayed. They were Steve and John (probably Stefano and Giovanni). They came in the late 1800's and ran a boarding house.  I know nothing of the Moscon family other than Maddelena Moscon died when her daughter was very young.

I am trying to find any information on my great uncles who emigrated to the U.S from Sfruz, Italy in the early 20th century. My grandfather, Ermete Ossanna and his brothers emigrated to the US to work in the mines in Pennysylvania. My grandfather returned to Sfruz, but his borthers remained and presumbably travelled westward. I would appreciate any information on finding any information.

My grandfather, Camillo Giuseppi Battisti/a, was from Fondo, or possibly Brez - he listed Fondo on the ship's manifest - was born 03 May1873,and was the son of Giovanni Battisti and Domenica Abram. Camillo was a coal miner in the Trinidad, Colorado, area. His siblings were Angelina, Maria, Nicole, Ursula, Candido, Paula, and Catarina. Camillo married Ida Barbara Dona, - she listed Brez on the ship's manifest.  Ida ran a series of boarding houses in the Trinidad area. Her siblings were Maria, Virginia, Fiorenza, Michele (born 04Apr1879), Davide (born 04Nov1885) who went to the USA with Ida, and Herman. As is the case with the Battisti side, I do not know if any of them other than Davide emigrated to the USA or to other places, or where they went.

My family is from Val di Sole, my Great Great Grandfather is from Peio (Moreschini) and my Great Great Grandmother is from Male (Ben[n]etti). They emigrated to Spring Gulch near Carbondale, and then after my Great Great Grandfather was lost in a snowstorm his wife took the children to Pueblo, CO.  I had heard tales that they might have been mountain guides, but I didn't totally believe the stories . . . I will say that there aren't too many Moreschini's in the United States that aren't related to us directly.  When I visited Peio a couple years ago I was surprised to see that about half the cemetery was filled with people named Moreschini.  Let me just say that Peio is beautiful, and it is actually so high up on this steep mountain that the town below looks like a miniature or toy village.

I am trying to find out information on the Moscon family. My great grandmother was named Maddelena or some form of the name, Moscon and she married my great grandfather Stefano Martini in Revo. However, I have not a clue to her birthdate or any other information. I am assuming they were from Revo as were the rest of the Martini and Rossis. Her father's name was Pietro Moscon and I have no idea of her mother's name. My grandmother was born in l876 and her name was Rosa Rossi or as registered Lucia Rosa Rossi. She and my grandfather Pio Bartolo Martini were married in the Hazelton area of Pennsylvania in about 1897 or so. I would like to know more about the Moscon family. I had not heard of the name until last year.

I just returned from Rumo, where we stayed at the Margherita Hotel in Marcena, two doors from the church which has the records that include Mione, birthplace of my grandmother, Maria Angela Futten. I got to walk in the rooms where my Nona grew up. If you need help when you go to Rumo, you can't beat Carrado Caracristi, who speaks only Italian, and Denis Martintoni, who speaks English. The priest, Don Carlo Mottes, trusts Carrado to go through the Marcena church books that are centuries old, while I watched. These are two of the greatest people I have met in my lifetime. They found my Nona's house, next door to Denis, of all people.  It took Carrado and Denis two hours to find 10 relatives for me, because they had to go back and forth from marriage, death and birth books to find matches. You need about 3 weeks to research all the way back to 1255, when the church records start. I still am overhelmed by how many people, many not even related to me, helped me in my quest for my roots. God bless the people in Rumo (Marcena, Mione, etc.).

Hi all. I just wanted to say that my greatuncle Agostino Maistrelli, patriarch and last of that generation of the Maistrelli family of Tassulo, died on March 13, 2005 at the age of 93. I was blessed to have visited him and his lovely wife Adelaide Pilati Maistrelli twice over the past 18 years. We were the American branch of the family and they welcomed us into their homes and hearts. I always *knew* my grandmother (Emelia Maistrelli Menapace of Trinidad CO, his sister, was Italian but I never really felt that part of my heritage until I actually went there and became acquainted with my large and extended family in Tassulo. He will be missed. As always Sal, I love your website.

My great-grandmother, Brigida Gius, was born in Castelfondo, Val di Non, in 1837, to Anthony and Brigida Gius. It is my understanding that she was a twin. She married Giovanni Monauni. They had 14 children, 9 of whom were born in Verla. One, Romano tried mining somewhere in PA but returned home. Angelo, Carl, Lodovico, Maria, and Julia moved to the United States and raised families. Brigida Gius Monauni moved to the US with my grandfather, Lodovico, in 1901 and she died the following year. Lodovico passed away in 1966.

I found your page highly interesting. My name is Cecilia Cagiolo and I live in Argentina. My grandmother, Pascuala Sicheri, was born in Trento in April 4, 1891. She married Carlo Ulmini and arrived in Argentina in 1911. She was daugher of Davide Sicheri and Genoveva Teresa Merli. A few days ago, I contacted a person named Sicheri in Trento. Altough she had no relationship with me, she told me that the surname Sicheri came from the Giudicarie Valley in Trento. My grandmother had a brother, Bernardo, who died in United States when he was very young.
