Year 2002 Part II
My grandmother was a
Vielmetti. She was
born in Switzerland but I believe her father originated from Northern
Italy.
Gail Zimmerman (california) --- gaelzimmerman@aol.com
My paternal grandparents came to Colorado from
Segonzano.
My ancestors include members of the
Nardin, Villoti, Bonelli, Antonelli
and
Petri families. My grandparents told me many stories about
the "old country", and I promised them I would travel there
and see it for myself. I have been fortunate to visit the beautiful
Trentino area of Italy several times and locate numerous family members
still living there.

I check your site often. It is so wonderful. I am
still trying to find out more about my family that settled in the
Walsenburg, Colorado area. They were from
Romallo and
Revo,
in the Tyrol. Names - GIUSEPPE
FLAIM, son of Giovanni Flaim and
Maria Pedri and my grandmother was MARIA
PANCHERI whose parents
were Simone Pancheri and Lucia Agosti. They had their home in
Walsenburg, but moved from mining district to mining district and were
at the Ludlow Massacre in Colorado.
Jackie Meissner (Colorado) --- tykemeis@cs.com
My parents were Firmino(b. 1900) and Gelinda
(Rauzi)
Dalpiaz (b. 1902), both from
Cloz in the Val di
Non. They immigrated to the US in the early 1920 and lived mostly in
Melrose Park, Illinoios. The Lord outdid himself in creating such
a beautiful area. I am proud to consider myself a Trentino.

I found your site this evening and loved it. My
father was a true Tyrolean from Mt. Carmel, PA. When I was young my dad
(Edward
Tamanini) insisted that we call ourselves Tyrolean and
we were proud of it but never knew the story behind why were were
neither Italian nor Austrian. As you probably know, calling yourself a
Tyrolean causes many long conversations, but none was more terrifying
than trying to explain my nationality (our first homework assignment)
in 1st grade to a tyrant of a nun! Of course she yelled at me and told
me there was no nation called Tyrol, but my dad escorted me to school
the next day and explained that I was not wrong...and the conversation
went on and on! Your site has filled in some blanks for me as my dad
passed on 18 years ago. Thanks for all the info and keep it coming.
Rose Tamanini-Katherine (Beaver, PA) --- rmk2000@access995.com
Just starting ancestral searches. Not much luck.
Veroneses
came from Covelo?,?.. Terlago? Trento (1911.1902,)-great to find a site
about northern Italy.

Hi Sal, I regularly visit your site and commend
you on your continuous improvements. I just finished reading a book
that may be of interest -- "The Hidden Frontier - Ecology and
Ethnicity in an Alpine Valley" by John W. Cole and Eric R. Wolf.
This book is a anthropologic study of the Val di Non and specifically
about the towns of Tret and St Felix. I found the book to be very
interesting and informative about the History of the South Tyrol, the
History about the Val di Non, the differences in culture and life style
of the Italian and the Germans and most of all the description of how
life was lived in an Alpine village based on a subsistence farm economy. I continue to
be interested in the familes of
Stancher, DeConcini, Concin and
Tait.

Hi Sal and friends Your web site is great, and
has led me to the LDS microfilms which are really amazing. My
grandparents were Vittorio Emanuele
MATTEVI and Luigia
PRETI,
from
CAGNO, Val di Non. Other family relations are FACINELLI,
DALL'AU, PEDRI, PEDROTTI, and COREDO, all from Cagno or nearby towns
like Revo, Dambel, or Romallo. Family history says an uncle,
Giuseppe Giovanni Mattevi, born in 1864, went to Florence, Colorado.
The family lost track of him after that. Would love to hear from
descendents! Thanks for the web site!
Cheryl Mattevi (Ohio) --- c.mattevi@att.net
I am researching the history of Francesco
Guisseppe
Zamboni (yes the same family as the ice resurfacing
machine) that immigrated in 1895 from Val di Non, a village named
Arsio--at

conditions of the area in 1895 will be very appreciated. What a great
website this is!

My father has a ancestral register document for
my paternal grandmother used in Austria during the war. My Grandmother
is 'Gruner' from Salzburg, Austria her mother was 'Turri' the Daughter
of a 'Turri' and '
Von Job'. I believe they originated from
Castelfondo.
Has anyone seen occurances of 'Von Job' or may that have been added to
clearly signify nobility to German speakers. You have taught me a great
deal about my heritage, Thank you.
Damian (London, UK) --- d.hasenrader@btinternet.com
Luigi
Pilati (emigrated in 1920 to Ohio)
is my grandfather. He has since passed on, but our line of Pilati's
still reside in Ohio. My wife and I made a stop in Tassullo to see
family that my parents have kept in contact with. We took many
pictures of the countryside, town, church and family while we were
there. We definitely plan on going back someday. This web site is a
wonderful resource for tracing the family line. The work you have done
is magnificant and very much appreciated.

be around the world. I'm also interested in communicating with others
of Trentino ancestry.
